1 Context and Outcome

1.1 Problem
Taekwondo students preparing for an exam must practice their Poomsea regularly to pass it. Poomsea is a sequence of TKD techniques. During the lessons, the coach can check if the students exercise correctly, but the Tkd students are on their own at home.
1.2 Solution
The app helps Taekwondo students remember the sequence of Poomsea techniques by providing step-by-step instructions and allowing them to practise them correctly.

2 Empathize

Based on five interviews with people of various age groups and activities in the Taekwondo community, I built Personas that describe their demographics, goals, and pain points.

3 Define

For the personas, I created problem statements and If/Then statements. The statements of the user problems helped me define the project's problem statement. Based on them, I created a value proposition for the app that would meet the gains and pain points of their future users.

4 Ideate

In the next phase, I draw a diagram that visualizes a sequence of screens and the actions the user takes to get there.
4.1. User Flow
4.2 Storyboard
I detailed the sequence of screens by sketching a storyboard. It shows the process of opening the app, choosing a Poomsea, starting and ending the sequence of techniques.
Afterwards, I drew several variants of the same screens as paper wireframes.

5 Prototype & Test

Combining the best elements of the paper wireframes, I drew digital and prepared them for testing.
The goal of the usability test was to understand whether the users can follow the step-by-step instructions of the Poomsea, the main feature of the app. For this purpose, we tested the app in person with two users and afterwards with a larger group of people of different age groups in unmoderated interviews.

5 Detail

5.1 High fidelity screens
Based on the feedback from the usability tests, I detailed the screens. For example, I increased the size and contrast of the included pictures.
5.2 Colour concept
While most app elements have a shade of grey, I gave each Poomse a different colour.
